The worst condition bike you have ever bought.

I'll start, it happened yesterday, Anaheim California. I'm on a call buying piles of stuff I don't need and kept walking by this poor soul. 2 hours later I'm driving away from the scene of the crime and that sad bike ended up in the back of my van. I couldn't leave her behind to be unappreciated, I know I can find a home for her, she will be loved again!!

How many parts did you end up just replacing with better condition ones.

My first vintage bike back in the early 90’s. 1955 Schwinn Deluxe Hornet. What a rust bucket! Every part required heat and or Kroil to remove. Replaced just about everything but the frame, tank, and rack. What a money pit! Sold it to a friend. He’s still got it. I’ve thought a few times about buying it back for nostalgic reasons….

Tank rusted through, rear fender cut out for belt, handlebars welded to stem and crank welded together. Obvious large quantities of rust.

This was too far gone, frame even rusted out! Oh well, ya win some and ya lose some!

How many parts did you end up just replacing with better condition ones.

All the original parts cleaned up including the tires and seat ... Only parts missing were the derailleur, overload tube and maybe a missing spoke ... Oh and that chain was unsavable ... (another testament for Schwinn Chrome) ...
