Hello. I am in need of help with identifying what hawthorne bicycle this is. I've searched for days and have come up short . Only other bike I've found was on this site and it was for sale with no information.

He only Serial number located on the rear drop out: R375437

What information are you specifically looking for. ?....I think it's a 1960's department store / hardware store bike

The tank drops down to make it into a girls bike, it's called a convertible. If you unbolt the tank under the seat and drop it down to the holes in the seat tube near the chainguard it turns into a girls bike. Not much value in those.

Year, make (as in who actually made it, not ward hawthorne), model. I'm more interested in the history more then anything else.

That's pretty cool. I'll probably try that out tomorrow.

I'm not to concerned with value as I don't intend to get rid of it since it's so unique (to me)

Thanks for the insight. I think I found its a 1967, from a member on here that is selling an old parts catalog from the bike back 2013. The hunt for more information continues, UT another piece to the puzzle to this very cool little bike

I have the exact chaingard and convertible tank that came off of a mid 1960's Murray built Western Flyer tagged bike.

Nice. So Murry very well could be the manufacturer.
That would be my guess. Do you have a clearer picture of the rear dropouts? Murray dropouts are very distinctive from that era. 1st picture is a Murray built Gambles Hiawatha. 2nd also a Gambles Hiawatha 3rd is a Murray astro flight. These are all 26" bikes, not sure if they were the same on mids bikes.
